Swank Business Solutions is a Red River Metis-owned Digital Marketing and Technology company based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Swank has been instrumental in the development of this project, providing the technical expertise and digital infrastructure needed to bring the Michif flashcards to a wider audience. Their contributions include designing and developing the project website, performing branding services, and assisting with marketing and communications. Their expertise ensures a seamless and accessible digital learning experience for educators, parents, and caregivers.

Grant Anderson is a Red River Métis author, storyteller, historian, and Elder dedicated to preserving and sharing Métis heritage. Raised in Libau, Manitoba, he grew up immersed in traditional Métis ways of life, including trapping, fishing, and hunting—experiences that continue to shape his work.

As the creator of the Illustrated Métis History Series, Grant has made a lasting impact on Métis education, with his books used in classrooms across Manitoba and beyond. He has also authored several children's books, including Santa’s Helper, Wille the Curious Frog from Pruden’s Bog, and Do Unto Otters and Other Bedtime Rhymes, earning multiple nominations and awards.

Grant has held key leadership roles, including several Senior Director positions at the Manitoba Métis Federation and serving as General Manager at the Louis Riel Institute. He is an active member of national advisory committees, including the Canadian Museums Association Indigenous Advisory Committee, the Museum of Canadian History’s Indigenous Advisory Council, and the Canadian Conservation Institute Reconciliation Advisory Committee. His work extends into policy development, museum curation, and cultural programming.

In recognition of his contributions to Indigenizing museums and the repatriation of Indigenous artifacts through the Moved to Action Report, Grant was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. He is also a recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts Grant for Indigenous Writers and Storytellers.

Through his writing, advocacy, and cultural leadership, Grant continues to educate, inspire, and advance the preservation of Métis history and heritage.

Sheldon Dawson is an award-nominated illustrator and fine artist with over two decades of experience in children’s book and educational publishing. Following a 25-year career in advertising, he has dedicated his talents to creating culturally significant and visually engaging works for young readers.

Sheldon has illustrated numerous children’s books and educational materials, earning multiple nominations for Manitoba’s Best Illustrated Book of the Year and the McNally Robinson Book for Young People Award. His work with the Louis Riel Institute and Pemmican Publications has contributed to the preservation of the Michif language and Métis heritage, while his illustrations for Native Reflections support Indigenous education with culturally sensitive materials.

Beyond illustration, Sheldon’s fine art explores themes of introspection, mystery, and hope through acrylic and mixed media. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Winnipeg and Calgary, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Grand Jury exhibitions, and is part of the University of Winnipeg’s collection.

A member of the Manitoba Society of Artists and CARFAC, Sheldon continues to create art that educates, inspires, and celebrates cultural identity.

Norman Fleury is a respected Métis language expert, educator, and historian, born in 1949 in St. Lazare, Manitoba. A fluent speaker of multiple Indigenous languages, he has dedicated his life to preserving and revitalizing Michif, the traditional language of the Métis.

Fleury has worked with institutions such as the Louis Riel Institute, Gabriel Dumont Institute, and Manitoba Métis Federation to develop Michif language resources, including books and audio recordings. He has served as Director of the Manitoba Métis Federation Michif Languages Program and Co-chair of the Métis National Council’s Michif Language Revitalization Program. His efforts have taken him across Canada, the U.S., and internationally to promote Michif and Métis culture.

As an educator, Fleury has taught at Brandon University, The University of Saskatchewan and has worked with community groups and organizations, including the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Indian Tribal Council, to develop language curricula. He is also an author, co-writing La Lawng: Michif Peekishkwewin, a Michif language dictionary, and Learn Michif: Kishkeehta Michif, a language-learning resource.

For this project, Norman has been instrumental in his pronunciations, reviewing of words, and overall guidance towards the project’s revitalization efforts.
